Why Non-Riding?
This program is meant to enhance the relationship between human and horse, and educate about the value of horses beyond riding.
Horses are more than just vehicles for us to ride around on. Once a horse can no longer be ridden, what becomes of them? What happens to your young intelligent horses with a career ending injury or that old reliable school horse that took care of you through your learning process? Pasture retirement is an ideal situation that is not a reality for many. What about that bond and friendship you made with them?
The best bonding comes from working beside the horse not on top. Everyone dreams of being greeted by their horse with a nicker from a distance and gallop to meet you at the gate. But if the time you spend with the horse only involves riding, work, and a quick groom while you chat with your barn buddies, when is your horse supposed to relax and enjoy your company?

Ways to enjoy Equine Exposure
Equine Exposure has been used by many individuals in many different ways.
RIDING PREREQUISITE
Children that are too young for our riding program or nervous first timers use Equine Exposure to get a head start on horse safety, becoming comfortable around the barn, and learning how to prepare for riding lessons.
FAMILY/GROUP ACTIVITY
Learning opportunities and exercises that can be tailored to a small group of any age and any experience level. This is also a good way for parents/guardians of riders to learn more about horses and rider/owner responsibilities.
GETTING YOUR HORSE FIX
Horse lovers that can no-longer physically ride do not stop loving horses. They still need to get their horse fix in and Equine Exposure is a comfortable way to do that.
PRACTICE FOR OWNERSHIP
You often don't know how much work and knowledge is involved with owning a horse until you own one. Equine Exposure can be used as a way to practice and learn about the ins and outs of ownership and caretaking. *Parent participation is recommended if considering purchasing or leasing a horse/pony for your child.
